Carl J. Maiello Sr. 88 years young, of Schenectady, passed away on Thursday January 23, 2014 at Ellis Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Schenectady, youngest child of Carmine and Concette Menditto Maiello. Carl was a Army veteran of WWII, following his honorable discharge, Carl was a jockey at Maryland Race Track for many years. After his career as a jockey he worked at the New York State Senate over 30 years and Green Mountain Race Track. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church. His beloved wife Martha Virginia Cook Maiello, predeceased him in 2005.

Carl is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Bob) Wade, his son Carl J. Maiello Jr; 4 grandchildren, Robert J. (Megan) Wade, Carly J. Wade (fiancé Matthew Howard Jr.) , Brenda L. (Joseph) Alberino and Diane C. (Robert) Moore; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his siblings, Frances Caffalette, Rose Ranelli, Florence Maiello, Mary Cassillo, Angelina Villano, Anthony Maiello and Ralph Maiello.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Monday January 27th at 9 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Schenectady. Calling hours will be Sunday from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Jones Funeral home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), Schenectady. Carl's family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses in the Neurological Unit at Ellis Hospital for the comfort and care given to Carl and his family during his stay.

Burial with Military honors will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
