The last time I talked with you, I told you about my retirement and you wish me well and told me that you wish that you could travel with me. I want you to know that every time I travel, today I'm in the Galapagos Islands, you are with me.
Miss you my dear friend.

Deepest condolences

Posted by Maritza Ramirez-Vallinas - Loudonville, NY - Friend   March 05, 2014

Juan is missed at work , really missed. He was one of the good guys in life. I always enjoyed the give and take of conversations with Juan. Even when he was not loud enough to be understood it was fun because Jqzuan was enjoying himself.

The service you had for Juan was a tribute to how many people Juan reached out to. You can not ask more than that of a person.

We were so very sorry to hear of Juan's passing. Please accept our deepest condolences. Unfortunately, I was out of town and Jesse is sick. Please know that you are all in our prayers.

I have been away on vacation and was saddened by the news of John's passing. He played on my team a few years ago and I truly enjoyed his company. We always kidded each other at the games. He will surely be missed.

Dear Family, No words can express how sad we are to know of Juan's very untimely passing, we grieve with you all on this sad loss. He was a fine man and an important part of our lives, and he will be very much missed by everyone who knew him. How happy we were to see both he and Ivette comfortable and happy in the little house in Schenectady, and to help them get settled there. We were just getting to know him, we did not have nearly enough time, but we cherish the memories we made there. Que musica! Que familia! Vida es muy corta, Vaya con Dios mi amigo.

I am very sorry to hear about this loss! My name is Jonathan and I live in your neighborhood and I am delivering a comforting message to people. It's a promise from God at John 5:28,29 which promises that we will all see Juan again very soon. I wish your family the best and hope you cope well.

With love,
Your neighbor Jonathan

Our hearts go out to Ivette, and Juan's family and friends for their incomprehensible loss! Ron and I wish to thank Juan's family for allowing us to share in the wonderful tribute to Juan's life where beautiful memories were shared by family and friends alike. The bongo-playing was the perfect send-off! Although I did not share this with everyone at the service, I will always cherish the memory of his gentle voice asking me if I needed more coffee; his quiet appearances behind my desk asking for tape, scissors, and/or paper clips that were, in reality, a way to engage in conversation; and my favorite memories of all, the times we danced at a co-worker's wedding, at my birthday party, and in the aisles during late-night sessions at LBDC! I'm sure when and where we meet again, there will be plenty of office supplies, coffee, conversation, and music and dancing to share! Meanwhile, the Comparer's Unit will not be the same without our "Juansky's" sweet and gentle presence!

It is with a heavy heart that I received the news of Juan's sudden passing. He was such a kind and gentle man. He always appeared with a smile on his face and a good word to say about everyone. We actually played against each other last Saturday during our CSBL game at noon. Juan did seem to be oddly quiet and unemotional - which was bit out of character for him. He did play in the game although without his usual intensity. He was always one of the guys you looked forward to seeing and conversing with whether he was on your team or one of the other teams. Juan's presence will be missed and his sudden passing is an all too real reminder to all of us that what we call life is nothing but a frail connection to this world and that connection can be broken at any point in time. Juan's connection with all of us will be remembered as being time well spent. The CSBL will of course continue however, not without a heavy heart as we mourn the loss of yet another treasured teammate. Juan truly did leave us with a better place. May he rest in eternal peace until we meet again.

I've known Juan for many years while working at LBDC. I have always considered Juan to be a dear friend. He had awesome taste in music and was a really good dancer. I remember one Latin Festival in Washington Park when he decided to become my dance instructor. It was a blast! We shared many stories over the years and had lots of laughs. Juan will truly be missed.

I worked with Juan for 13-14 years in Bill Drafting. He was my reading partner there for a time and we became good friends. In December 2012 he gave me a Christmas card with a gift certificate to Smith's Tavern in Voorheesville. He knew I liked to go there for pizza and beer. I told him he would have to meet me there and we could share a pizza and have a beer together. He met me there on a Friday evening after work. We sat at the bar and had beer. He showed me pictures of his cadillac that he was going to restore. My wife and son came a while later and we got a table and shared a pizza and Juan and my son talked about Carlos Santana who my son loves. Juan told him about Carlos' brother Jorge and suggested that he put some of Jorge's music on his Ipod which he did. It was a very enjoyable time that I will cherish. We talked about doing it again soon. I regret that I never got the chance to do that. Juan was one of my favorite people at bill drafting. He never had an unkind word to say about anyone. He will be missed.

Dear members of the Vega family,

My name is Mark DeSorrento and I have been Juan's partner at work for the last year and a half. We grew to become very good friends and colleagues.

I want to mention Juan's great personal pride in his Puerto Rican heritage. I had never previously known anyone Puerto Rican and I am much the better for this initiation. Juan was a real man.

I'll always remember Juan as a dear friend and a fine fellow.

My very deepest condolences,
Mark4v8sk
